Healthy tips to lose weight and keep it off


I handed out this paper yesterday... so those of you who didnt get one I will print if off and bring it today or you can copy and past and have the one below!!
 

Healthy tips to lose weight and keep it off!! 
 
Eliminate things you can control

·         Do not buy problem foods
·         Eat only in one room at the designated time
·         Shop when you’re not hungry
·         Avoid vending machines, fast food restaurants, and convenience stores

Trick your self

·         Make small portion look large by spreading the food over your plate
·         Create obstacles to consuming problem foods- wrap them and freeze them, making them less quickly accessible
·         Plan and eat regular meals
·         Have healthy foods available for you to always see
·         Have a list of activities to do when you are board so you don’t resort to food
·         If you don’t like vegetables hid them in your other foods (sauces/smoothies)

Things to keep in mind and practice

·         Share the problem foods with others
·         Plan appropriate snacks
·         Slow down eating- put down utensils between bits
·         Always use utensils
·         Leave some food on your plate
·         Move more- shake a leg, walk around, stretch often, play with something while sitting down
·         If you slip do not punish yourself
·         Don’t sit and visit around food/kitchen area
·         Don’t restrict yourself of foods, but eat them in moderation
·         Triangle: eat more during the morning and less though out the night
·         Don’t skip meals!!!
Reward yourself… but not with foods

·         Bus tickets to sports event, movies, concert, or other non food amusement
·         Indulge in a new small purchase
·         Take a hot bath… read a good book
·         Praise yourself; visit friends
·         Nap; relax
